3 Things to Ask Yourself Before Sponsoring an Event

Event sponsorship can be a valuable way to position your company not just as a leader in your field but as a leader in the community. At the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, we offer over 40 events and trainings that dray 9,500 business leaders each year.  Before signing on the dotted line for any event sponsorship, here are the three things to ask yourself:

Who is my target audience?

We all know the saying it’s not what you know, but who you know. Who are the people you most want to meet and share your organization’s brand with? This is the most common question asked of the Chamber’s events team. Once you know, that will help you filter events. For example, if you’re looking to get in front of decision makers, a Gold Program or Gold Networking is the perfect match for you. If you’re focus is industry-specific, Energy Professionals in Colorado (EPIC) might be the right fit for your company.

What’s in it for me?

How will the event be marketed to make sure your objectives are met? Different events and sponsor opportunities offer different degrees of exposure. If maximum exposure is the goal, you’ll want to consider opportunities that draw a large amount of people and may carry a speaking opportunity.  Sponsoring one of the Chamber’s signature events  puts your business front and center. However, if brand recognition is the goal, sponsor the Chamber’s most popular networking event, Net90, to generate monthly brand recognition.

Where can I meet a cross-over audience?

With six affiliates: Colorado Competitive Council, Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation, Denver Metro Small Business Development Center, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, Denver Opportunity Youth Initiative and Mobility Choice Blueprint Initiative, we’re able to work harder for you to provide relevant business training; advocate for your business; collaborate on a regional approach to economic development and develop a pipeline of community leaders. When you’re deciding which event or program to sponsor, consider our affiliates and how your company’s mission aligns with theirs.
