There’s a lot that goes into building a strong economy and putting Coloradans to work in great careers. Our affiliates enhance that work – all with a laser focus on their part of our mission. We want to remind you of how you and others in your network can take advantage of each affiliate. We have six affiliates and this week we focus on the Denver Metro Small Business Development Center.

Entrepreneurship is the foundation of Colorado’s economy. More than 99 percent of Colorado’s businesses are small, and our SBDC works with Colorado companies to define their success so they can reach it faster and put more Coloradans to work.

How do they do it? Our SBDC staff and consultants have built a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs and professionals, no matter the stage of their career or the lifecycle of their business:

  • Removing barriers. Whether your seeking funding for your business or your looking to improve your skills in areas like marketing and finance, the SBDC can help. In fact, they have 20 in-house consultants who offer their services at no cost.
  • Connecting you. We know a simple introduction can change you and your business. The SBDC introduces you to critical resources and training; its 30-plus lending, investment and community partners; and creates new personal connections through its training opportunities.
  • Fostering a collaborative and innovative culture is what Colorado is known for, that’s because of our entrepreneurial spirit. That culture is thriving at the SBDC through accelerators like its Trout Tank (because we’re not sharks ?).

What’s that mean to you? If you’ve not taken advantage of their incredible services, you probably know someone who has. Their support has led to 46 new companies that created 508 jobs and infused nearly $15 million of capital into our region. And, it means you have some great local businesses you visit or work with, like Snooze and Fireside Production.

How can you get involved? If you’re looking to build your or your team’s skills, this is an incredible resource available at the Chamber. And, you’re supporting a thriving entrepreneurial scene. You can see the SBDC and its clients in action. Five food-focused business will give their best pitch and share their tasty treats at the SBDC’s Trout Tank: Food Frenzy on Thursday. Come meet entrepreneurs and get engaged with this thriving piece of Colorado’s business community.

RSVP for Trout Tank

Kelly Brough is the president and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber.
