Our Leadership Foundation community is mourning the loss of Mark Vernon Casper Jr., Leadership Denver Class of 2024, who passed away suddenly on September 24, 2026, at age 45.
A Career Built on Discipline
Mark began his career as a Certified Public Accountant and rose to Chief Financial Officer of Capstone Partners, retiring recently to pursue fly fishing, travel, and more time with family and friends. Colleagues valued his rare combination of easygoing presence and unwavering discipline. He always had his ducklings in a row. Mark earned degrees from Ohio Wesleyan University, Florida Gulf Coast University, and the University of Colorado.
A Commitment to Community
Mark served on several nonprofit boards, most notably the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance, Ducks Unlimited, and the Canton Museum of Art and Canton Ballet.
A Life Lived Fully
Raised in Canton, Ohio, Mark spent his boyhood fishing and hunting on Lake Cable before making Denver home. Friends knew him as curious, playful, and full of wonder. He loved snowboarding, concerts, water parks, animated films, and animals of every kind. He renovated his own home, maintained his own motorcycles and cars, and always had a book recommendation ready. He was a devoted son and brother, a beloved "funcle," and the friend who offered both outrageous stories and genuinely wise counsel.
Mark hoped his passing would be met with celebration rather than sorrow. His family will host celebrations of life in the coming months.
