This week, here’s what the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce is watching in the metro area business community.

1. Oil and Gas Task Force Drawing to Close

The oil and gas task force created by an executive order of Gov. John Hickenlooper will have its final meeting Tuesday and will vote on recommendations to send to the governor and the legislature.

2. CEOs are Talking about #wickedproblems

Ten CEOs and entrepreneurs are nearly wrapped up working through 10 days of searching for market solutions to 10 “wicked” health problems—patient engagement, antibiotic resistance, end-of-life care, pandemic weapons and bioterrorism, patient and data matching, health guide maps, health data and patient mobility and independence. The CEOs will share what they’ve learned and next steps on Thursday. Tickets for the wrap-up are sold out, but follow the conversation online.

3. DIA Turns 20

Denver International Airport will celebrate 20 years on Feb. 28. We’re no longer a “fly-over” but a “fly-to,” region, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation CEO Tom Clark wrote in the Denver Business Journal. Our central location allows travelers to reach Europe, Asia and Central and Sout America by air without having to stop to refuel. It’s a convenience that’s connected our region to 65 percent of the gross world product. DIA is a major force behind our role in the global economy.
