Did you know that more than 40,000 come people through the Chamber doors every year? What we love is that these are people from all three sectors (public, private and nonprofit) from around the region, country and even the world. That means there are a lot of opportunities for all of us to learn from each other, make the connections we need to drive the success of our organizations and address some the most critical issues facing our state.

Here are just a few ways you can connect in the next month:

Celebrating student veterans and thanking our business leaders who mentor and offer career coaching to active and former members of our military, as well as their spouses, as they transition from service to a new career. Our Boots to Suits Anniversary Salute, on April 18, is always so powerful. We’ve worked with the University of Colorado Denver to deliver the Boots to Suits program for seven years, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of member businesses who are committed to hiring and mentoring this talented workforce.

Supporting our entrepreneurs to help address one of the critical resources for the western United States – water. And this week we’re doing it by hosting a Trout Tank H2O: Pitch Event on April 19 where you can hear from five startups making waves with innovations in water. Like all of our Trout Tank events, these startups will give their pitches in front of investors and lenders. This will be really fun because one of these companies will walk away with a $5,000 prize. Please join us because you too can cast a vote for favorite business innovation and select the people’s choice award.

Getting out of the office is one of the best ways to recharge and get new ideas – especially with business leaders who you often see here at the Chamber. Join us at Colorado Experience, May 22-23. Our Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation will once again take 100 civic leaders on the road, this time to Boulder. Colorado Experience connects its delegates to big ideas and thought leaders from other parts of the state every year. The Boulder agenda this year includes touring the Google Campus, Chautauqua and the St. Vrain Innovation Center and hearing from Nobel Prize winner Tom Cech, who leads the University of Colorado Boulder’s BioFrontiers Institute, and Rob Katz, the CEO of Vail Resorts. Reserve your seat now so you can meet other leaders in our region and get know your state better. (And as a Chamber member you’ll even save on your registration!)

As always you can find even more opportunities to connect with your fellow members and read about the latest business trends and topics in our magazine, Business Altitude, which just came out Friday.

Kelly Brough is the president and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber.
