Colorado State University (CSU) junior Carmyn Ginnetti was named Colorado Leadership Alliance’s (CLA) 2020 Student Leader of the Year at the CLA Summit on Saturday, Jan. 25. The annual award is given by the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and the Boettcher Foundation.

Get to know Student Leader of the Year Carmyn Ginnetti:

  • Majoring in psychology and communications studies with a minor in leadership studies.
  • Ginnetti has helped students navigate life at CSU Fort Collins as a resident assistant, learning assistant and public achievement coach.
  • She plans to pursue that passion for working with students through a career focused on student affairs in higher education.

"I’m honored by this recognition,” Ginnetti said. “I have discovered the passion I have for connecting with my students, witnessing the lightbulb moments and getting to contribute to their growth and success – and I look forward to the future and finding ways to channel that passion into action.”

A student from CSU-Fort Collins was last recognized with this award in 2015.

“We meet exceptional student leaders through CLA. It’s clear our community is in good hands; Carmyn is a shining example of how to lead with Colorado’s Civic DNA,” said Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation Executive Director Dan Lewis.

Ginnetti will be recognized at the Leadership Foundation’s Leading Colorado luncheon on March 12.

“Carmyn is a dedicated leader who is empowering others to elevate their voices on her campus and beyond,” said Waldo Martin, vice president and chief of staff at the Boettcher Foundation. “She is an inspiring example of student leadership.”
