Mark Cordova and his family have been connected to southern Colorado since the mid-16th century. Both of his parents were born and raised in Walsenburg, Colorado, and while they moved to California to raise their children, Mark returned to Colorado after graduating from the University of San Diego in 1978. Cordova founded Centennial Bolt, Inc. in 1979. It is one of the Rocky Mountain region’s premier fastener suppliers to the manufacturing, industrial and construction industries, and is known as one of the leading-edge companies in forward-thinking supply chain services. With business and personal relationships in both Colorado and California, he established other businesses in California to support Southern California’s electrical power and water needs.
When Mark’s father became ill in 2008, Mark stepped in to serve as the interim chief executive officer of Cordova Bolt, which was started by his father in 1975. Mark remains a co-owner of Cordova Bolt, one of the largest fastener distributors in the Western United States, which has been recognized as one of the top 500 Hispanic businesses in the US.
Mark is actively involved in community organizations in Colorado and beyond. He currently serves on the board of trustees for the Mile High Council of Boy Scouts of America and Aquinas College in Nashville, TN. In the past, he has served as a board member of Volunteers of America Colorado, Wells Fargo Forum, Catholic Charities of Denver, Girl Scouts of Colorado, the University of Colorado Denver Business School, Metropolitan State University at Denver Foundation, DU Center for Teaching International Relations, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School, American Red Cross--Mile High Chapter, Mile High United Way, Junior Achievement—Rocky Mountain, Inc., Young American Bank, Young American Educational Foundation, and Osage Initiatives.
He also is actively involved in business organizations. He has been chairman of the board of directors for the Employers Council (formerly Mountain States Employers Council) and Rocky Mountain Minority Suppliers Development Council. He is a current board member and former executive committee member of the National Association of Manufacturers, and a board member of the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, and the Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council. He is a past board member of the Small Business Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Fastener Distributors, and the Los Angeles Fastener Association, and the immediate past chairman of the Colorado Advanced Manufacturing Association.
He has received the Colorado Clean Air Award for Small Business, Xcel Energy’s Pioneer Award, Boy Scouts Vale la Pena and Silver Beaver Awards, the Metro Denver Chamber’s Board Volunteer of the Year Award and has received the Martin Luther King Social Responsibility Award.
