The Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association (CRMCA) is a fifty-plus year old trade association, comprised of over 20 ready mixed concrete producers and over 100 associate members in the state of Colorado. Membership strives to create a safe working environment for all industry personnel, while pursuing the latest technologic and safety practices to educate our members and industry partners across the state.
It has come to the attention of the association that many ready mixed concrete drivers have been put in potentially dangerous situations when working with concrete pumps. Employees are at risk for injury due to pump malfunctions; specifically, blowouts from within the area where the concrete first leaves the hopper base. Therefore CRMCA endorses the use of protective pump wraps, similar to the transition cover pictured below, as a best management practice (BMP). This is just one of many steps to improve safety when working with concrete pumps. We encourage contractors and concrete pump companies to utilize this BMP and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
