Founded in 1974, Warren Village’s integrated approach provides the essential ingredients for life transformation for formerly homeless, low-income, single-parents and their children. These include safe and affordable housing, quality early education and childcare services, and self-sufficiency programming for the parents. Our focus is unleashing the power of the single-parents, primarily Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) women, who we serve and creating opportunity and community to change the trajectories of their lives and achieve sustainable personal and economic self-sufficiency. The organization’s Two-Generation (2Gen) approach to working with the parents and children on major developmental stages creates a multiplier effect that catapults both generations towards success. Safe and affordable housing coupled with an on-site early learning center are vital to the overall success of the 2Gen program; when our residents have a safe place to live and have access to quality care and education for their children, they are better positioned on their path to permanent economic security. Annually, between 80 and 90% of residents move on to permanent, stable housing with approximately 30% moving into and maintaining market rate rental housing. Over half, 59%, of graduating residents have completed a degree or are on track toward earning a degree or certificate.
