Policy Councils

Local Affairs Council

The Local Affairs Council focuses on municipal and regional government policy impacting employers, workforce access, community growth, and economic competitiveness across the Denver metro area. This council serves as a forum for members to:

Stay informed on policy developments at the city and regional level
Engage directly with local government leaders and subject matter experts
Share business perspectives on issues such as transportation, land use, local regulation, and economic development

The council meets in person on a monthly basis, creating a consistent opportunity for members to shape local policy discussions and contribute to the Chamber’s position on local government matters.

Policy Engagement Council

The Policy Engagement Council is designed to support members throughout the Colorado legislative session by delivering timely updates on newly introduced legislation and key state-level policy developments. This council:

Reviews newly introduced bills affecting the business community
Provides context and analysis of legislative movement
Offers structured opportunities for members to engage in advocacy actions

Meeting bi-weekly via Zoom during the session, the Policy Engagement Council ensures members receive up-to-date information and can collaboratively respond to legislative priorities as they emerge.

Participation and Impact

Both councils are open to Advisory-level members and above and are intended to work in tandem to provide comprehensive coverage of policy issues—from municipal to state levels. Participation allows members to contribute expertise, inform the Chamber’s policy positions, and help set priorities that support a strong business environment in metro Denver and throughout Colorado.
