Every year, the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce celebrates businesses shaping the future of Denver's economy. Be part of the excitement at the 2024 Business Awards, sponsored by BOK Financial, on April 25, 2024, and witness the winner announced live! This year’s Woman or BIPOC-owned Business of the Year finalists are Serendipity Catering, The Equity Project LLC and ZIM Consulting, Inc. Get to know each of the organizations below.

Serendipity Catering

Serendipity Catering, founded in 2001 by Todd and Laura Zaspel, marries a passion for fine cuisine with a steadfast commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. As trailblazers in their field, they became the first Green Certified catering company in Denver, reflecting their deep dedication to sustainable and regenerative practices. With Laura's background in Environmental Policy and Management, including work with the US Department of Energy, and Todd's culinary expertise shaped by international travel, Serendipity offers a unique blend of culinary excellence and eco-consciousness.

The Equity Project LLC

The Equity Project began in 2016 when Founder Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler observed the increasing polarization in the country. Driven by a commitment to use her platform for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) work, she founded The Equity Project. This organization strives to offer expert EDI guidance, fostering spaces for open dialogue on challenging topics. Their vision remains consistent – providing organizational assessments, workshops, equity audits, etc., to advance equity efforts. The Equity Project primarily serves clients in Colorado but collaborates with organizations nationwide. The Equity Project's impact is evident – 100% of their clients come from word-of-mouth referrals. They pride themselves on being direct with clients, using organizational assessments to identify opportunities and address issues at their source.

ZIM Consulting

ZIM Consulting founded in 2006 and transitioned to woman-owned and woman-led in 2007, is a pioneering force in nonprofit fundraising and capacity building. With a focus on securing funding through grants and capital campaigns, ZIM allows nonprofits to concentrate on their core missions while handling the intricacies of fundraising. Their unique approach involves deep collaboration and forming alliances among nonprofits rather than fostering competition. With nearly two decades of experience and a team of over 25 dedicated professionals, ZIM offers comprehensive support, guiding nonprofits in defining objectives, setting realistic benchmarks, and executing plans for sustainable growth. Led by CEO Shira Zimmerman, ZIM Consulting is dedicated to empowering nonprofits to achieve their full potential and make lasting impacts in their communities.
