We are so thrilled and proud to welcome Mary Haynes to the Leadership Foundation team! Her exceptional background as a facilitator, coach and civic leader in her own right make her a wonderful choice to guide Leadership Denver and Colorado’s Civic DNA Fellows.

Mary joins the team from the Daniels Fund, where she spent the last 21 years, first as scholar relations officer and then senior scholar relations officer and Boundless Opportunity Scholarship relations manager. She is a certified life and executive coach, mediator, professional facilitator and trainer, and education professional with 30-plus years in education, management, program and curriculum development, admissions and financial aid. She also previously served as a coach for our Colorado’s Civic DNA Fellows program. We’re looking forward to having Mary’s expertise on our team.

“Developing leaders is at the core of who I am, and I'm thrilled and humbled to join the Leadership Foundation team. I've admired Denise (King) for a number of years, and the opportunity to step into her spectacular shoes is exciting and quite honestly, a bit daunting,” Mary said. “I look forward to working with the staff, alumni and participants to continue the tradition of empowering leaders and building new ways of connecting and growing our communities.”

We are so grateful to Denise King – not only for her 12 years of service to our community but also for this smooth, professional transition and for making Mary feel welcome in her new role.

Please join me in giving Mary a warm Leadership Foundation hug (either virtually or in person very soon…) We will work with her to create an opportunity for all of our alumni to meet and welcome her as soon as we can.

By the way, if you know someone who would like to be part of Mary’s historic first class of Leadership Denver, we are currently accepting applications through June 7!

We also recently welcomed Satya Akquia to our team as a program support coordinator. Satya comes to us with a background in outdoor engagement. She helped build an after-school program in Southwest Denver that focused on creating leadership opportunities for youth in the outdoors. Satya will be working with our Impact Denver (applications are due June 2) and Access Denver participants (registration is open).

Please join us in welcoming Mary and Satya to the Leadership Foundation family!

What has been a defining moment in your leadership journey, and how did it shape you?
