A dedicated leader, Sara Khammash is committed to creating an inclusive community so leaders can lead with their authentic and true selves.

“There’s so much we can learn from people with different backgrounds and cultures ... When you’re open-minded and want to sit down and really listen to people who are from different parts of the world or have different backgrounds from you, there’s so much you can learn,” Khammash said.

Khammash, a University of Colorado – Colorado Springs senior, was named the Colorado Leadership Alliance (CLA) 2021 Student Leader of the Year at the CLA Summit in February. The award is given annually by the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and the Boettcher Foundation.

“I am so honored to be named the 2021 Student Leader of the Year,” Khammash said. “I remember attending the CLA Summit as a freshman and wanting to be nominated for this award. I want to continue to impact leaders in our program and apply everything I’ve learned these past four years – it really has come full circle.”

We heard about Khammash’s leadership journey at Leading Colorado presented by BBVA. Watch the video below to hear what she had to say in a conversation with the Boettcher Foundation’s Director of Communications and Community Engagement Curtis Esquibel.

Join us in congratulating Sara Khammash!
