Inclusion is Good For Business

Studies have shown that hiring individuals with disabilities is good for business. Not only can it ease talent shortages, but it also adds to organizational diversity that is proven to drive innovation in teams. However, many individuals in the disability community struggle to find employment due to employer misunderstandings, exclusionary hiring practices or lack of assistance on the job. Easterseals Colorado’s Disability Inclusion Program (DIP) helps businesses and organizations better understand the disability system. DIP training gives organizations the knowledge and resources to support individuals with disabilities both at home and in the workplace. Denver Museum of Nature and Science recently shared with Prosper CO how they have created a more inclusive museum. Recognizing that much of the Museum’s community outreach has been transactional, early inclusion efforts included a focus on building and nurturing ongoing, long-term relationships with community members. Today, these ongoing relationships are still a focus and becoming more centralized in planning for the future, in addition to efforts around hiring, retaining staff and listening. Learn more here.

The Civic 50 Colorado Deadline Has Been Extended!

The Civic 50 Colorado Survey
New Deadline is Sept. 17, Midnight

The Civic 50 Colorado survey honors the 50 most community-minded companies with 15+ employees in Colorado based on their community engagement programs. Honorees receive a complimentary benchmark report, recognition at the annual awards event and opportunities to be featured throughout the next year via multiple partnerships.

Note: It is expected that not all companies have the same level of resources or engagement in all the activities measured by the survey. Therefore, scoring and awards are based on the number of employees, with companies measured within their peer groups. This year’s survey has been updated to make it easier for companies to participate.
