When Good Intentions Aren’t Enough: How Racism Persists in Today's Workplaces
11:00 am -

Over 50 years have gone by since the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, yet the US remains markedly racially segregated. Racial inequalities are particularly present in the workplace, where Black workers are underrepresented in high wage, high status positions in tech, law, medicine, and other industries. This presentation examines why these patterns remain so consistent, and discusses what organizations can do to change these outcomes.

In this webinar, sociologist Adia Harvey Wingfield discusses her research on race and inequality in the workplace. Professor Wingfield has published numerous articles and books on this topic, and writes for public outlets including The Atlantic, Vox, and Harvard Business Review.

Who should attend? This webinar is intended for individuals interested in learning more about how and why systemic racism persists in the workplace and what the research says about creating more equitable work environments.

What will you learn?
1. How racial disparities persist in hiring
2. What contemporary forms of racial discrimination look like
3. How Black workers experience work in various occupational settings
4. What the research suggests will address these issues
