Skillful Talent Workshop 101 & 102
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

It's no secret that, as the region's unemployment rate remains at historic lows, small businesses are struggling to find the skilled talent they need to remain competitive; according to Denver Metro SBDC's recently published Colorado Small Businesses Survey, more than half of companies with revenue over $500,000 reported that a lack of qualified workers was a challenge to their growth.

That's why we are bringing you the Skillful Talent Series training's, designed to help employers find, hire and train talent with a focus on skills instead of proxies for skills like previous titles and degrees, thereby deepening your companies' talent pools, reducing time to hire and improving retention and diversity.

Talent Series 101: Attract the Right Talent
Is a tight market keeping you from filling positions? Unfilled positions cost companies like yours an average of $800,000 a year. Yet most job postings use requirements that create barriers eliminating more than 95% of possible applicants. These job postings contribute to costly losses in productivity and difficulty in attracting the right candidates.

At Skillful Talent Series 101: Attract the Right Talent, you'll learn how to:

Hire highly skilled people to increase your company's productivity
Attract great candidates for hard-to-fill positions with straightforward changes to your job postings
Diversify your team by reducing bias and barriers during recruitment
Don't let the low unemployment or growing skills gap prevent you from hiring a great staff. By focusing on skills, not credentials, you'll staff hard-to-fill positions, reduce time-to-hire, and increase your company's diversity.

Talent Series 102: Candidate Evaluation

By emphasizing the candidates' skills in the interview and through skill assessments that test for the specific competencies new employees will need in order to succeed in their role, you'll be able to double the effectiveness of your interview process and choose the candidate most likely to succeed.

In Skillful Talent Series 102: Candidate Evaluation, you'll learn how to:

▸ Avoid filtering out qualified candidates in the screening process
▸ Craft interview questions that allow candidates' opportunity to demonstrate occupational and foundational (also known as 'hard' and 'soft') skills
▸ Select and design an assessment to accurately evaluate candidates' skills

By evaluating candidates based on their skills, you distill the interviewing and evaluation processes to its essentials and are more likely to find your next great employee.

(Re)Define B:CIVIC Summit
9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Presented by Suncor Energy & VF Corporation.

Over the past 12 months, several challenges and opportunities have shaped the way we approach Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Global forces like the climate strike, the Blackrock statement, COVID-19 and the economic crisis have hit the world in waves. These external factors along with the drive to integrate CSR into HR, Sales, Client Services and other essential internal operational units are redefining the field.

CSR professionals are working hard to embrace change and adjust their priorities and plans to fit the new normal. And they are trying to figure out the ROI on this adjustment. The 2020 B:CIVIC Summit is designed to support CSR professionals as they (re)define CSR for the next decade. Together, we will explore best practices, find inspiration from our peers, and hear from experts in the field who can guide us as we continue to focus on the business of making an impact in our communities.

In keeping with our commitment to plan an exceptional conference that prioritizes the health and well-being of all participants in the midst of COVID-19, the 5th annual B:CIVIC Summit, (Re)Define, will be virtual on Oct. 22.
