The Colorado Children's Immunization Coalition (CCIC) was formed in 1991 in response to the fact that only around 50 percent of Colorado children were adequately immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases. CCIC was created as an initiative to convene medical experts and partners to implement a comprehensive plan to increase and sustain Colorado childhood immunization rates. As Colorado’s only statewide independent 501c(3) nonprofit organization committed to children’s immunization, we elevate the essential role vaccines play in preventing illness and promoting health for all of Colorado. Our mission is to strategically mobilize diverse partners and families to advance children’s health through immunizations. CCIC works with health care providers, public health departments, businesses, policy makers, and community organizations to fulfill our mission. By focusing on four programming areas – coalition building, community outreach, provider education and public policy – the coalition leverages the strengths and resources of our members and community partners to maximize the effectiveness of our efforts. We do all of this without accepting funding from vaccine manufacturers or distributors.
