A lifelong learner, Jenn Marshall is most in her element when working with teens as an adolescent and young adult life coach with SPHERE Education. She is also one of our most dedicated Chamber members, serving as a Leads Group ambassador, a role she helped create; recruiting new members; and continuously taking part in the events and programs the Chamber offers. Her passion, vision and integrity make her our summer Chamber Champion. Marshall shared 10 unique facts about herself with Business Altitude.
At work, I’m most inspired by my clients. I love working with teens and young adults. They have so many ideas and dreams. I love teaching them about their brains, helping them understand the potential they have and then watching them embrace it.
The one word to describe me as a teenager is goofy.
The person that’s been most influential in my life is my grandfather. He accepted everyone for who they were and where they were in their lives. My grandpa encouraged me to live big, try new things, always do my best and give my all. He used to say that I could do anything I wanted as long I was willing to put in the effort. He was my cheerleader, friend, confidant and master Shirley Temple maker.
I am in awe of the way we as Chamber members are so dedicated to helping each other grow our businesses. We learn from each other, we listen and when there is an opportunity to refer a business or just make an introduction, we do it!
The best business advice I’ve ever received is to get involved and try to do everything you can, show up to events, volunteer when and where you can and just be present. I think I may have taken that getting involved part a smidge over the top.
My hidden talent is organizing and packing. I have the special talent of being able to pack a bag, a car, a closet and even a moving van to utilize all the space. It is like Tetris.
A skill I’m working on is learning. I am always looking to learn something new, keep up on the latest research in my field or anything else I find interesting.
My favorite way to get involved in the community is education in any form. I love to teach and I love to learn. Of course, I am in my element when it comes to teenagers, so I volunteer with Junior Achievement and Goodwill Industries of Denver on a regular basis.
My first job was a baseboard cleaner at the hotel my dad managed. I had a bucket on wheels and a sponge, and I think I received $1 per floor— big bucks for a little kid.
I can’t leave the house without my Fitbit. It is an addiction.
