University of Colorado Denver senior Nadeen Ibrahim was named Colorado Leadership Alliance (CLA) 2017 Student Leader of the Year at the CLA Summit on Saturday. The award is given by the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and the Boettcher Foundation annually.
Get to know the Student Leader of the Year, Nadeen Ibrahim:
- Ibrahim has made an impact in the community and on campus. She was named the 2016 Community Builder of the Year by the University of Colorado Denver and is the youngest Coloradan to serve on a governor-commissioned board, appointed in 2015 by Gov. John Hickenlooper to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Board of Health.
- Majoring in public health and minoring in leadership studies and chemistry
- A member of the University Honors and Leadership program at the University of Colorado Denver
“This is an incredible honor,” Ibrahim said. “My work in college has focused on creating opportunities for everyone, and that means ensuring their voices are heard. As I near graduation, I know my work after will continue to focus on creating discussions that lead to a more inclusive community.”

“Each year I am in awe of these students and their commitment to strengthening their communities,” said Boettcher Foundation CEO Katie Kramer. “Nadeen has already done so much for our community; she has vision and is able to inspire others to join her in taking action. She is just starting her leadership journey, but has already created true impact; we can’t wait to see what she does next.”
Ibrahim will be recognized at the Leadership Foundation’s Leading Colorado luncheon on March 21.

The Colorado Leadership Alliance (CLA) unites collegiate leadership programs from across Colorado, exposing them to community issues outside their campus at an annual summit drawing more than 200 students. Since 2009, the Leadership Foundation and the Boettcher Foundation have partnered to select a Student Leader of the Year from a CLA member college or university who shows exceptional leadership and service in the classroom, on campus and in the community.
