Last month, Comcast announced a new effort, Lift Zone, that provides free WiFi to community spaces to support thousands of Colorado students in distance learning. These “Lift Zones” provide students with a safe, reliable space to participate in distance learning during the day or to do homework before or after school. A full list of current Colorado Lift Zone sites can be found here. Comcast also announced $150,000 in grants in partnership with the Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser to support internet safety and digital literacy programs in Colorado. The Denver Business Journal is accepting nominations for its Small Business Awards. This award recognizes businesses that have shown excellence and resilience during 2020. Award winners will be featured in the Denver Business Journal this spring, highlighting winners’ commitments and contributions to the metro Denver community. Nominations are open until Jan. 11, 2021 at 11:55 p.m.
Atlas Real Estate, a full-service real estate company specializing in investment brokerage, property management and institutional acquisition, recently welcomed Vincent Deorio as vice president of corporate development. Deorio joins the Atlas team to fuel the continued growth of the company. He has extensive experience in acquisitions and development, market expansion and fundraising, with a proven track record in leading the growth of firms backed by both private equity and venture capital. FirstBank President and Chamber Board Member Ron Tilton has announced he will retire at the end of February 2021 after almost 35 years with FirstBank. Tilton first joined the bank out of college as a management trainee, working his way up the ranks to president in 2016. Tilton was involved in helping finance the transformation of Lower Downtown and the Platte Valley, working on projects including Wynkoop Brewery, Larimer Square and the redevelopment of Union Station.
