SEMA Construction, a Colorado-based contractor whose portfolio includes numerous government contracts, has donated $86,000, which will be distributed to three local organizations. Denver Urban Gardens will receive $10,000 to help restore and preserve affected areas of the 39th Avenue Greenway; WORKNOW will receive $50,000 for its cross-sector program housed in the Community College of Denver that currently provides supportive services to more than 2,000 construction workers to sustain and build their careers; and Metropolitan State University of Denver will receive $26,000 for a needs-based scholarship in construction management or civil engineering. National Salvation Army Week will be held May 10–16. The Salvation Army has worked alongside the city to feed and house over half of Denver’s homeless population. This year, buildings across Denver will light up red to honor the work of the Salvation Army. Atlas Real Estate, a full-service real estate company specializing in investment brokerage, property management and institutional acquisition, announced that it has entered into a joint venture (JV) partnership with San Francisco-based DivcoWest to invest $250 million of equity in single-family homes as rentals throughout the Western United States. The JV expects to deploy $1 billion acquiring and renovating homes in high-growth states, including Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, Nevada and Utah, where Atlas currently manages more than 4,200 units.
