When things are going great, we think you should work even harder to maintain those successes and overcome challenges. Lately we’ve had plenty of good news.
We’re still leading the pack. When compared to other metro areas, we are number one for economic and job growth. There are a lot reasons for this—we have a diverse economy, we have a VERY smart, fit workforce, we work across sectors (public, private and nonprofit) and we are a powerhouse in the energy and technology industries, which are foundational to all our companies’ economic success. Also, Colorado just gained three spots in America’s Top States for Business, ranking fourth this year.
We’re growing business. Colorado is home to nine Fortune 500 companies. These major companies like Arrow Electronics, DaVita HealthCare Partners and Ball Corporation not only employ thousands of Coloradans and deliver incredible community impact with their philanthropy, but they also create incredible opportunities because they do business with our many small and start-up companies. As a matter of fact, in May Colorado saw its largest gains of the year to date in small business employment, even outpacing job growth nationwide.
We’re getting leaders up to speed. With all this great growth people are taking news jobs, getting promoted and relocating here. Whether you’re new to the area or just to your job title, you may need some help getting a handle on the issues facing the region and making new connections. That’s where our Leadership Foundation’s Access Denver program comes in—getting executives up to speed and connecting them with leaders in the region in just two days. We will keep working hard, working smart and always, always working together. And, we don’t ignore our challenges (aka, bad news), but let’s focus on that another week.
