The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce is the longest continuously operating organization in Colorado. And, there’s only one thing that delivers 149 years of community impact: leadership.
You only have to look at the list of our 3,000 members to see a list of who’s who in Colorado. These companies are making a difference in every corner and on every issue in Colorado. And, each year our board of directors identifies one person from our high-performing members to lead our work.
This year I am so proud to introduce Todd Munson as our incoming board chair for 2016-17. Todd serves as the managing director and vice chair of the Colorado market for JPMorgan Chase.
He will officially accept the gavel and all the responsibilities that go with that little hammer from our outgoing Chair Bob Hottman at our Annual Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Here are a few things you should know about Todd:
- He’s a fast learner. Originally from Louisville, Todd came to Colorado just over a decade ago and he fit right in, bringing those famous Colorado values of rolling up his sleeves and working hard, helping his company and his community thrive.
- He’s acclimated to Colorado just fine. An avid cyclist, Todd takes advantage of the sun-soaked trails—the uphill climbs on our mountain passes might be just a little bigger out here, but you will learn that his road bike has passed over most every paved (and some unpaved) mountain pass in Colorado with him in the saddle.
- He cares about his community. Whether as a leader at Chase, on our board or in the community, Todd is always thinking about how to make Colorado better. And with his open, welcoming approach, he’s the perfect leader for the Chamber. He’ll make sure everyone has a seat at the table and that together we make progress on the biggest challenges before us.
In addition to Todd, we’re welcoming our new board leadership and board members, who officially start their terms later this week on Thursday, Sept. 1.
It is hard to express our gratitude to each year’s chair. Bob Hottman took on a lot this past year. He guided us through launching two new Chamber affiliates—Denver Opportunity Youth Investment Initiative and Mobility Choice Blueprint Initiative—and he led our board and our members to develop our positions on critical ballot issues we face this fall.
Trust me, these are two guys you want to get to know better; join me for Your Conversation With from 7 to 9 a.m. this Wednesday, Aug. 31, where we will get the chance to ask Todd and Bob whatever we want. (They don’t know that last part—so don’t tell them if you see them before the program.)
