Collaboration is foundational to everything we do. We truly respect the work of all three sectors – public, private and nonprofit – because we all play a critical role in our economic success.
Colorado has more than 21,000 public charities, which means there is a place for every one of us to get involved in our community and make an impact.
Here are some ways our members are giving back:
Through our Teams. So many of our companies and their teams, from Comcast to DaVita, deploy huge teams of workers on projects that support the community. Other companies allow their employees to decide where they want to focus their energy – it’s why our Chamber team has volunteered with and donates to Mile High United Way.
Engaging with Community Partners. If you’re not sure where to get started but you know you want to increase your civic engagement, our Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation is helping hundreds of people find their passion and have an impact every year. The Leadership Foundation just kicked off its Impact Denver and Leadership Denver classes, which bring together people from across sectors to learn about the community and discover where they can make a difference. Impact Denver participants have partnered with 10 community organizations who bring project proposals to the class and are helping them get more done through their extra hands. Leadership Denver will soon break into teams to focus on community challenges.
Just Doing it. Our members stand up and raise their hands. Xcel Energy’s day of service engages their employees, customers and partners to volunteer at more than 70 nonprofits who are doing great work in our community. It’s a fantastic example of how we work together across all three sectors.
Kelly Brough is the president and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber.
