Last week our team at the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation (Metro Denver EDC) was greeted with a simple email that has big implications for our region and our state: We are among the 20 cities that Amazon is continuing to consider in its hunt for its second North American headquarters.
Our phones started ringing and our inboxes started filling with congratulations and questions about what’s next. Over the last few months, our Metro Denver EDC team, its investors and our partners across the metro Denver region have been working together to put Colorado’s best foot forward in this proposal.
Moving forward we’ll learn more about what Amazon needs from their HQ2 community to be successful, and our Metro Denver EDC, its investors and our partners will work hand in hand to provide them with detailed information about our region. We’ll continue to emphasize the same things we did when we replied to Amazon’s RFP: our healthy, talented workforce, an unrivaled quality of life and a community that we have invested in for generations. We approached this proposal highlighting what we have and what we can deliver. The strengths of Colorado’s proposal are in how we work: how we grow and train our highly-skilled workforce, reduce impact on infrastructure through innovative developments and showcase businesses that have made Colorado their home and become active contributors to our future.
Last week you no doubt saw the headlines locally from 5280, 9NEWS, CBS4, Colorado Public Radio, Denver Business Journal, The Denver Post, Denver 7 and Fox31.
We’re thrilled to continue to continue to advance the conversation about how access to great jobs improves our state. And you can help: Tell us – and Amazon – what Colorado Loves. We want to know what you love most about living, working and playing in our great state so that we can continue to share our story with the rest of the world.
