Between Thanksgiving and the New Year, there are lots of gatherings of families, co-workers, clients and customers as we celebrate the holidays and welcome 2019 together.
I recently heard someone speaking about the Latin root of “company.” (‘Com’ means ‘together’ and, ‘panis’ means ‘bread.’) So, it translates to breaking bread together, “bread fellow” or somebody with whom you break bread. Maybe it’s because I work for a Chamber and everything we do revolves around food, but I really like the visual of that and how well it describes us as a business community. We are open. We are welcoming. We work together. And, we usually eat when we do it.
So, from all of us at the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
We wish you great success – and many opportunities to break bread together – in 2019.
Kelly Brough is the president and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber.
